All of the above although I do have a soft spot for the wide ocean expanses having worked at sea for 3 years
What was your first great travel experience?
South Africa, 1999. Time seems to pass more slowly in Africa. 3 weeks seemed like 3 months and you just lose yourself.
What has been your favourite journey?
Egypt 2007. We travelled independently from Cairo to Abu Simbel and back again over the course of 2 weeks. Trains, planes and automobiles....and feluccas and hot air balloons

Recommend a special place to stay
Spend a couple of days cruising the Nile on a traditional felucca. So peaceful.

Spare glasses, camera, a good book

Always like to sample the local beer... but not very guilty about it!!
