The world according to jcrane66

Mountain/Desert/Ocean/Jungle... which one are you?
Desert

What was your first great travel experience?
I had just finished my first year teaching and I flew for the summer to the Middle East. I took public busses, hitched rides on motorbikes, and sometimes had to walk long distances as I went across Syria, Jordan and Iraq. In 1988 I was an oddity in many of the places that I went.

What has been your favourite journey?
Isfahan, Iran. The city was so beautiful and the people so friendly. The bridges are romantic and the mosques are majestic. Pistachio nuts on every corner, samovars perking away along the river, and so many hugs because I was an American.

What are your Top 5 places worldwide?
Isfahan, Baalbek (Lebanon), Samoa, Lalibela (Ethiopia), Swimming with whale sharks in Djibouti.

Recommend a special place to stay
The Fafa Island resort in the Kingdom of Tonga

Which three items do you always pack?
Nothing exciting - books, a new toothbrush, and all my allergy meds.

Which passport stamp are you proudest of?
The former East Germany

Which passport stamp would you most like to have?
Yemen.

Where or what is your guilty travel pleasure?
Breakfast buffets

Window or aisle?
AISLE!
