The world according to JanieB

Mountain/Desert/Ocean/Jungle... which one are you?
Desert. I loved sleeping in the sand in the Algerian desert and I love the heat. Jungle I like too and Ocean but mountain definitely not.

What was your first great travel experience?
Age 14 being let loose in Tangiers along with 3 other 14 year old schoolgirls and no teachers! We had no fear and just looked at everything. We got so interested we held up the cruise ship we were on with our school trip!

What has been your favourite journey?
Algerian desert trip in 2007. Sleeping on mats under the stars, incredible sunsets, meeting nomads and not one single tourist except me. I had a guide, driver and tea maker and I organised the trip by myself as nobody wanted to join me - can you believe that?!

What are your Top 5 places worldwide?
In no particular order and because I love Africa: Madagascar. Benin. Botswana. Algeria. Mali.

Recommend a special place to stay
Sleeping in the desert under the stars on a mat.

Which three items do you always pack?
Moisturiser Mascara Sun Cream (I'm really vain)

Which passport stamp are you proudest of?
Timbuctu

Which passport stamp would you most like to have?
Niger

Where or what is your guilty travel pleasure?
Airport shopping. I always get there as early as possible so I don't miss any shopping opportunities.

Window or aisle?
Always aisle so I can get up and move around.
