The world according to Jamie Furlong

Mountain/Desert/Ocean/Jungle... which one are you?
Since I live on a boat the answer is obvious... but I do love a mountain. Parts of the Western Ghats and the Himalayan foothills remind me of The Lakes back in England.

What was your first great travel experience?
I went to New York as a teenager, taking in The Bronx and Harlem, back in the 80s. As a graffiti artist I found the place edgy, magical and yes, it really was like being on a film set.

What has been your favourite journey?
Any that involve days at sea. I can't even begin to describe a life of fresh fish and star gazing without seeing another soul.

What are your Top 5 places worldwide?
1. Any large expanse of water 2. London, England 3. Sadler Island, Eritrea 4. Tikal, Guatamala 5. New Zealand 6. Anywhere in India You did say 'Top 6', didn't you?

Recommend a special place to stay
Kannur Beach House, Kerala, India. It is the perfect example of what a homestay should be.

Which three items do you always pack?
Camera Toothbrush Positive attitude

Which passport stamp are you proudest of?
I've just had to replace my passport so I only have one: my multiple entry, 12 month Indian business visa. Now we can visit Nepal , Sri Lanka, Maldives or Bangladesh with half the hassle we were expecting. Famous last words...

Which passport stamp would you most like to have?
The complete works of the Pacific Islands.

Where or what is your guilty travel pleasure?
Suffolk. It may be flat and it may be windy, but Constable got it right.

Window or aisle?
Providing I've been to the toilet before hand, window.
