The world according to Fiona Trowbridge
Mountain/Desert/Ocean/Jungle... which one are you?
Oh, only allowed to choose one. Well it has to be ocean. I moved from the city to be by the sea and we're waiting for a calm warmish day to try out our new second hand kayaks.
What was your first great travel experience?
The west coast of Scotland especially Ardnamurchan. I went there many times as a child and have been back several times as an adult. It's a dangerous thing to do, to return to a place that you last saw through a child's eyes but the wonderful thing is, the west coast of Scotland is still magical and unspoilt.
What has been your favourite journey?
Life, I'm still on it.
What are your Top 5 places worldwide?
Don't know, not seen them all yet.
Recommend a special place to stay
The Last Resort Backpackers in Broome, Western Australia. You will either love it or hate it. Extremely relaxed and friendly atmosphere, dorms are busy, noisy and there is no glass in the windows only shutters (too hot to need glass) The communal centre part of the backpackers is uncovered and the rooms and dorms lead off from it. Fantastic atmosphere and well run.
Which three items do you always pack?
Notebook and Pen (That only counts as one)
Compact Camera. I love my canon ixus - takes great shots and is very easy to carry around.
My husband - you've got to have someone to share it with.
Which passport stamp are you proudest of?
China in 2006
Which passport stamp would you most like to have?
Madagascar - don't even know if it has it's own passport stamp.
Where or what is your guilty travel pleasure?
I love preparing for and organising trips: packing, repacking, planning how to get there, where to go when we get there, things to do and see. But secretly, just once, I'd love someone to do it all for me, pack my bags, pick me up at my door and take me there.
Window or aisle?
Always the window - I love flying. Strangely, it seems, I even love the food. Probably because I don't have to cook it myself.
