Travel C.V. Fearless Flyer

About me: I go away as much as possible. I have a really stressful job which means I can afford to travel, and I need to! I'm not very good at just relaxing so I tend to go with the idea that 'a change is as good as a rest'. I try to get lots of variety in my trips as I get bored with too much of one thing. Walking, camping, snorkelling and climbing are my favourite activities, and if I can combine that with a bit of culture, I'm happy!

Mountains

What was your first great travel experience?
Visiting Switzerland. I couldn't believe how impressive the mountains were. I felt like I was in another world.

I prefer to arrive than to travel! Trekking is good though - the Inca Trail and the Tour du Mont Blanc are particular favourites. The best train journey I've had is the West Highland Line in Scotland.

What are your Top 5 places worldwide?
Bernese Oberland, Switzerland Khiva, Uzbekistan Copacabana, Bolivia Fussen and area, Germany Real Alcazar, Seville, Spain

Recommend a special place to stay
The Mohammed Amin Khan Medressa in Khiva, Uzbekistan. It's an incredible building with a setting right in the middle of the historic old city (Ichon-Quala)

Which three items do you always pack?
Medical kit, camera and journal

Which passport stamp are you proudest of?
Uzbekistan and Iran.

Which passport stamp would you most like to have?
Libya

Where or what is your guilty travel pleasure?
Polo mints and a roll of Charmin!

Depends how long the flight is!
