The world according to Faye

Mountain/Desert/Ocean/Jungle... which one are you?
I'm Jungle. Noisy, Natural, Dark, Wild & Exotic - Ok - so that doesn't describe "me" (!) but those are the things I love and crave

What was your first great travel experience?
Venice at the age of 9 when we were surprised by the Regatta, during which we stole off to a deserted St Marks Square with only the pigeons for company. And crossing the Bridge of Sighs while my father told tales of executions..

What has been your favourite journey?
It's always the one I've just returned from! In September we travelled through Turkey from Istanbul to Ankara by Night Train, then on to Cappadocia by Bus, Then down to sleepy Bozburun by Night Bus. Fantastic.

What are your Top 5 places worldwide?
I have to choose places I've already visited? I'm too young for this game! Kota Kinabalu - Malaysia, Marrakech - Morocco, Istanbul - Turkey, Cairo - Egypt, Panama City - Panama

Recommend a special place to stay
The Peace Lodge at La Paz Waterfall Gardens in Costa Rica - recently slated in Wanderlust for it's poor eco-ethics... But it is exquisite! Lounging in the jacuzzi on your balcony while humming birds feed above your head. I would swap it for the more environmentally sound Lapa Rios if I went back since reading the article... but I still loved The Peace Lodge!

Which three items do you always pack?
hat, jeans, jumper. And a guide book - can I have 4?

Which passport stamp are you proudest of?
Thailand, because we went by taxi from Malaysia

Which passport stamp would you most like to have?
Democratic Republic of Congo

Where or what is your guilty travel pleasure?
It should be The Peace Lodge! I think my guiltiest secret is that when my long-suffering boyfriend is dismayed at the third 15-hour bus ride I've worked into my itinerary, despite my claims that I'm as disappointed as he is that there were no other travel options, I secretly love it and will happily gaze out of the window without saying a word for the whole 15 hours!
