Sure it would be a nice place to live, ya dreamer! And just because I might live in the Land of Leprechauns it dosen't mean the poor wee croak, croak frog was straight out of a fairytale! In Fintown the horizons between dreary reality and mystical wonderland are forever etherally intertwined.....cheers!

How are you with spiders and emergent insects? I know what you mean.... my ideal would be to live over the water with a boat below the bedroom, but it would have to be an oligotrophic ie nutrient poor lake! In the Broads, you'd be inundated with chironomids and and anything that fancied feasting on them from about March through until October. Thanks for the info re the bittern. Fab! Cheers, J

Non-biting midges I can deal with (yes, had to google that) but their eight legged predators might be more of a problem. I have a mayhem-filled tale of undertaking some spider phobia therapy at London Zoo. Skeptical as I was, it was very effective - I even accidentally picked up a trap-door spider on Kangaroo Island and didn't scream. Living in a boathouse full of them would be a different matter though!

I have to thank you for the tip-offs for our camping trip. We stopped at Winchester for a wander along the crystal clear River Itchen, and saw the equally glorious Test when we stopped at a National Trust house. Gape limited feeders galore under the bridge!

Fintown, I'm going to have to have that there frog to deal with the spiders in my boathouse. Also, I need to get a boat, otherwise it's just a house.

    Uff, wretched reality.

    Hi Emma,

Glad I wandered back this way and that you managed to get some quality time down on the Hampshire chalk! Did you manage to get here? Which NT house did you stop at?

Re the Aare and the fierce flow... actually it is not too bad once you get near the sides and there's normally someone hanging around who will stick out an arm if one is floundering! Much fun.

    Cheers, J

.... and again! Allegedly the Trekker from Fintown is up for another Destinations and was wondering what the chance of biccies was like?

You've disappeared again! Will you be at Desties?

    Cheers, J

And you a librarian! You should have great knowledge of how to keep data safe! Under the water tank, indeed! Paper documents are theoretically easier to handle - you just have to keep them in a safe place and remember where that is! Although, if one was really concerned about it, there are places that will scan and digitise everything for you.

    Hi, Emma.

Yes, I took lots of photos, most of them total rubbish.

Isn't digital and the delete feature wonderful.

I've got some half decent pictures of goats in the rubbish in Cochin (honest), might post them when I get home from work!
