Pan panorama by DrG
Nxai Pan was just flushing with new growth after the first substantial rains. Springbok, zebra and wildebeest were just starting to accumulate.... the predators had not cottoned on yet. Big pans with big skies and wonderful cloudscapes... and the stars.... wow!

I'm a sucker for clouds. Love this. And the other pics in this album. Makes me jealous. Jean

agreed both, the sky is fabulous! funny, though, i cant escape the image of you lying/sitting in the same position for hours on end waiting for the perfect cloud formation....! incidentally, circumstances have got in the way and i cant do destinations this weekend! dont suppose anyone wants a couple of return train tickets from plymouth, do they?

Mmmm..... Pam, have to admit this was a snap shot. I had been watching for some action from a jackal to no avail and glanced into the wing-mirror before moving off to find the intensity of these flat bottomed beauties. I leapt straight out to capture them with a 10mm lens and polarising filter. I have lots of skyscapes from this trip. Cheers for the comments all. J

What fabulous images! I can hear the call of Africa... maybe we will round the Cape after all, and get to see some of these extraordinary places. My own experience of the continent has been limited to the Med and Red Sea coasts, but what I saw of Eritrea mesmerised me. Nxai Pan is a whole other place.

Love the sheer of weight of those clouds. Pregnant skies indeed!

Is that a reindeer's head I can see poking out of that cloud formation? - just kidding DrG.A truly magnificent cloudscape with a startling 3-dimensional quality to it.

Stunning shot indeed. Frightening sky methinks - it cleared all the impalas from the plain!(Sigh....needed a wee break on here...)

I don't find the sky at all frightening - to me it promises rain.

You do manage to find some beautiful scenery! I went looking for somewhere to say thank you for your recent comments on my Northumberland gallery and instead of Spain ended up in Africa.
