Desert. I love the dry heat, the breezes, the light, the silence, the starry nights

What was your first great travel experience?
Summer working and travelling as a student in 1972. Employment in a rickety water front hotel in Virginia Beach followed by a $99 Greyhound ticket and 10,000 miles in three weeks.

What has been your favourite journey?
So many! Road trip to the Flinders Ranges from Adelaide, 4x4 camping in WA, driving to the SW tip of Spain

What are your Top 5 places worldwide?
Granada, southern Crete, London, Yellowstone NP, Finnish Lapland

Recommend a special place to stay
Monasterio Hotel, Cuzco, Peru

Which three items do you always pack?
Point and shoot Camera - I love to capture passing moments; Euro plug with a four plug gang - so I can charge everything at once; corkscrew/bottle opener

Which passport stamp are you proudest of?
India, because it was such an inspiring country

Which passport stamp would you most like to have?
Antarctica

Where or what is your guilty travel pleasure?
German Day Spas
