The world according to Bev Bishop

Mountain/Desert/Ocean/Jungle... which one are you?
All sorts - not much of a mountaineer, but I can still appreciate their beauty. I just want to see the world!

What was your first great travel experience?
Travelled widely around the USA when I lived there in the late 1980s. Loved the wildlife in the National Parks.

What has been your favourite journey?
Tough one. Loved it in Australia in 2002. Alaska in 1992 was pretty great too. And for a city New York City in 2005. My recent trip to Chobe National Park in Botswana (2010) was wonderful too.

What are your Top 5 places worldwide?
New York City, USA is my fav city in the world, Prague in the Czech Republic is my fav city in Europe. I loved it in Queensland, Australia. I also love the wildness and scenery in Scotland and loved my time in Alaska. My recent trip to Africa has whetted my appetite for more of that too.

Recommend a special place to stay
Depends what you want, but for a totally relaxing holiday try the isolated Perhenthian Islands, just off the north east coast of Malaysia. It takes a bit of getting to, but its worth it.

Which three items do you always pack?
My camera, my phone and my ipod. If you'll let me have a fourth, add Kindle to that list too!

Which passport stamp are you proudest of?
China, especially considering what you have to go through to get a visa in the first place. Also my Zimbabwean stamp.

Which passport stamp would you most like to have?
Too many, but top of my list are New Zealand, Argentina and South Africa.

Where or what is your guilty travel pleasure?
New York City!!! I usually want to go somewhere I have never been before, but I'd happily go back to NYC time and time again.

Window or aisle?
Window for short trips, aisle for long trips.
