The world according to andy morris

Mountain/Desert/Ocean/Jungle... which one are you?
Ocean - I love diving and have had some amazing experiences all around the British Isles and as far afield as Bora Bora and the Maldives.

What was your first great travel experience?
Working and travelling in the USA for 11 weeks when I was a student - seeing the Manhattan skyline for the first time and hitting the Blues clubs of Chicago were revelations - though the 21-hour bus journey between the two was something of an ordeal!

What has been your favourite journey?
Eastern Anatolia in Turkey in 2006. From Ankara, we travelled to Cappadocia, Mount Nemrut, Sanliurfa - city of the prophets, the Kurdish stronghold of Diyarbakir, the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, Lake Van, Mount Ararat, the ruined Armenian city of Ani, and the Black Sea. All stunning and not another tourist in sight.

What are your Top 5 places worldwide?
1. Taj Mahal, Agra, India - nowhere lives up to its billing like the Taj. 2. Rome. 3. St Petersburg - especially the Hermitage/ Winter Palace. 4. Bora Bora, French Polynesia - idyllic. 5. Mount Ararat.

Recommend a special place to stay
Bora Bora Pearl Beach - overwater bungalows give amazing views across the lagoon to Mt Otemanhu.

Which three items do you always pack?
Mosquito repellent. Convertible (zip-off) trousers. A good first aid kit.

Which passport stamp are you proudest of?
French Polynesia/Tahiti.

Which passport stamp would you most like to have?
Ethiopia.

Where or what is your guilty travel pleasure?
Vegetarian survival snacks!

Window or aisle?
Aisle
