The world according to AlycewithaY

Mountain/Desert/Ocean/Jungle... which one are you?
Mountain. It's refreshing to get that 'top of the world' feeling standing on top of a mountain when you're from the midlands of England and 5ft tall.

What was your first great travel experience?
At 19 I spent a summer inter-railing around Eastern Europe, in a loop from Budapest to Prague. It was my first big trip and it ignited my love of the best way to travel, by train.

What has been your favourite journey?
7 months overland from Mexico City to Lima was my biggest and best trips. I dred to think how long we spent in coaches on the road but what we saw along the way was unforgettable. I'm really proud of myself for learning some Spanish as well, I'd recommend anyone to spend some time doing it while abroad. Immersion is the best way!

What are your Top 5 places worldwide?
Brooklyn (New York City) Sierra Madre de Oaxaca (Oaxaca State, Mexico) London (England) Salento (Colombia) Aix en Provence (South France)

Recommend a special place to stay
La Serrana, Salento, Colombia Fresh eggs, fresh milk, comfy sofas, breath-catching views, rambling walks, friendly pet dogs, snow capped mountains, lovely staff, home cooked family meals. Everyone stays longer than they mean to. Need I say more?

Which three items do you always pack?
Cameras, earl grey tea bags and marmite!

Which passport stamp are you proudest of?
Guatemala. 3 different coloured inks and a cool pattern!

Which passport stamp would you most like to have?
Bhutan. The next big travelling trip for my boyfriend and I will hopefully be India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan- we just need to save up!

Where or what is your guilty travel pleasure?
The internet and Harry Potter audio books.

Window or aisle?
Window, with my head against the side for a snooze!
