    Cruising the northern atolls of the Maldives

    Spending 20 minutes snorkelling with a Hawksbill turtle. Jamie and I hovered over him/her, about two metres away. The water was the clearest I have ever seen, and the coral the most colourful.

    Not really a hidden gem, but enjoying the colours of sunset from Sairee Beach was stunning. The many bars on the beach have some very comfortable bean bags for customers!! Seeing a school of 1000s of fish swimming beneath us whilst snorkelling was also fantastic.

    On returning to Addis friends teased me for speaking Amharigna with a Gonderi accent. I speak very little Amharic - but I'm thrilled to be doing it with a recognisable accent! That's wonderful! Thank you to all my Gonderi friends for their efforts teaching me the language.
