Just found the winners gallery on Facebook - funny that they're not on here yet - but I have to ask, why are there no MyWanderlust contributors featured amongst them? That is not to ask why were none chosen since there are clearly a significant number of far superior images posted on here than have been singled out, but it is, perhaps, to ask where are the good snappers amongst us that none have found their way to the top of this particular pile? Come, colleague collectors of beautiful images, did anyone enter?

They're here but on the dark side Pam.... I'm sure your thread will draw some attention. I didn't. Cheers, J

I entered! Got through to the second round but not the final this time.

Done too many photographic competitons in my years in club photography. Don't really want to do it anymore, I just want to take photographs for my pleasure and the pleasure I get from making up my Photobooks. Thought about entering but decided against it.

I entered - always do, always will, probably! Will try again later this year...

I entered - and evidently my efforts in the wildlife section were no better than the pictures of sheep's poo and the family pets. Wouldn't have chosen any of the winners out of those shortlisted - especially not the overcooked blurry pic of two incomplete wildebeest. Perhaps that explains why I got nowhere.

The final photographs are simply fantastic and stunning to look at on a big screen. I'd love to see them projected somewhere. Well done to all who were selected, great work!

I thought they looked much better printed and displayed, all except the dusk picture of London, that print seemed to have a muddy quality.
Agreed with Angela - they did look much better printed out than here in small shots. Photobox did a great job! Would also agree with Rhoda that some of those shortlisted weren't the greatest - comes back to the discussion we had last year around clichés. For the people category, for example, you clearly have to take a picture in the Indian sub-continent, early in the morning, of a poor local doing something. I did also notice that the winner of Portfolio had entered two portfolios, which should - according to the rules - have got him disqualified... I made sure I entered a different photo from a previous competition winner as I didn't want to break the rules - but clearly they aren't adhered to!
Congratulations to Nick, Sophie and Rhoda for at least giving it a go! Thinking about it, though, I think it would be really fascinating for us to choose our winner from pictures posted - say - in the last month. Surely, a small token could be awarded to the winner, couldnt it Towers? Any view anyone?

Now that I've given them a proper look over.... ie on the wall rather than on a screen, I would say that I'm more impressed with this lot than last year. So well done to those that got to be hung..... For the wildlife category, as that resonates most with me, from the ten shortlisted or whatever, I have to say I finally agreed with judges on the winner. But I also have to say, for me the wildlife shot has to say something about the place (because it is a travel oriented competition afterall) and reflect some wildlife skills. Hence, the emperors in the winddrift in front of some bergscapes oozed Antarctic to me. The portraits of leopard, cheetah... even the spoonbill-egret standoff did nothing of the sort and require little wildlife photographic skill. The Flatanger eagle is old hat now.... habituated eagles taking baits on demand. How many of these shots were taken on Paul Goldstein trips....or reflect his sort of imagery..... isn't he one of the judges? And yes Sophie, I'll never get shortlisted for the people section having no desire to go the Indian subcontinent! But then you have to be in it to win it, each to their own, one man's meat............
I entered too Pam, but didn't get anywhere - again - I'm not the greatest photographer, but it's fun to give it a go. I have to say that I think the chosen ones this year are much better than last year, but yet again the Indian subcontinent plays too big a part in the People section - why? I'm sure I saw some great photos of people in London, New York etc. Why don't some of these get selected? People and travel happen everywhere. Last year I said that it would be really useful if the judges could explain to us the reasons behind their selections - any chance of that this year? Also I for one would be interested in some technical information about the winning shots - which camera, lens, settings etc. And Sophie, I too noticed at least one double entry in the portfolio section, which as you say should disqualify the entrant.

I entered this year and have done perhaps twice before with equal success i.e. none :) I would just like to add my congratulations to all the winners. I think the standard of winners / shortlisted was much better than last year. I liked the wildlife and portfolio winners in particular (even though I also noted the double entry tut tut!!).
