    Photo Books

I was intrigued by the adverts for photo books on the website and a couple of weeks ago saw a friend's  photo book he'd prepared on a trip to Tibet last year and was really impressed with it.  Another freind's Birthday is rapidly approaching and so I quickly whipped up my own version with lot's of pictures of our hiking adventures where we live.  Well, this morning the finished book arrived and I'm really impressed!  It's fabulous!  I ordered it through Bobbooks and I'm now going to start a new one based on my trip to India last year.

They're great, aren't they? I'm shooting a friend's wedding in a fortnight's time and my present to them, apart from doing the job, will be a book. I use Photobox and after some initial teething problems with their software, all is well. Regards. Bill

I have had one printed for each of my trips over the last 2 years. They are great for looking back at the best moments of a visit. The hard part comes in getting them down to a managable number! I've used Kodak ones so far & been very happy with the results. But I may change to the ones on here for change of layout for my trip to Africa in August. Have a go if you've never tried.

I agree with Bill and digital_one, I think these are a great idea. I took black and white photos in New York and used Photobox to create a book - my friends thought I had bought it and I had to convince them that the photos were mine! I also made one for my friends in Jo'burg of our trip to Botswana and Namibia and they were amazed! I will probably do the same after this years Africa trip with them - roll on two weeks!!

Yes I can't wait ot get on the road again this autumn to Vietnam and Cambodia and make a book on the trip. I had a look at the one on Kodak gallery but compared to the Bobbook version, didn't seem as user friendly and (maybe because of my laptop) seemed very slow. I also like Bobbook because you can download the program onto your pc and then work offline. Once you have your finished book you then upload it to the Bobbook website. this seemed to work really well for me but I'll also take a look at Photobox.

Bobbooks are great. They give you such a professional finish. I have done several and people who have seen them are really impressed. I photographed our niece's wedding and did a Bobbook for her, I was so pleased with the result and she was absolutely delighted.

I'm so glad to hear everyones thoughts on Photo Books, having just spent the morning researching them. We're off on a 2 month wedding/honeymoon to Easter Island, Chile & Argentina in December and a photobook would be just the thing to give our parents when we get back. Max Spelemen to a basic one, 32 photos for £14.99. Good value I thought.

I'm surprised no one has commented on the Mac books as they are great. I have a huge pile now and loads of people have commented on how great the layouts look compared to their own books. They are the simplest programs to use; simply drag and drop, shrink or expand, slide around or change the photo layout by a single click. Perhaps people are still stuck on PCs...?

Julia, I don't think people are "still stuck on PCs" it's just what they know and like. I personally will never change to a Mac I can't stand them. The Bobbook application is just as easy to use as the Mac Book program. I checked out their demo and see that there is a version you can download to windows, which might be worth trying especially if the purchase price is cheaper than a Bobbook. I'll check it out and let everyone know
