    In fear of the WFMG.....

Hi all, back after lengthy absence. There were issues of a non posting IE8, there are wind farm turbine appeals right on my doorstep, there are work problem with us on short hours and the company in examinership so poor auld FT only got an odd look in (but little say in) over the last few months. Basically not since I came home after being made a  Freeman of Greenwich Town.

So what happens in the meantime? I see HERE an interesting development - some have gone off and set up an onimious sounding group - the WFMG. How does a fella get a membership?  Is there a cost involved? Who all is in it? Is it a proscribed society? Are ya better inside this tent or outside peeing in? Would they send ass ass ins after you then if ya did sumtin nasty like that ? peeing in the tent like.  Have they a sergeant in charge? Or is a Doctor the top man? Would wee small hobbits get in? Would wans with wild long legs get in?  What about wans on big black motorbikes? Or wans on yalla bicycles? Or that carry around weapons like Pliers in their pocket? Like, do ya have to present at any metal detector yock before getting your WFMG badge?

Do the Towers hold a veto over who gets to join? Is Peter at the door with a spade? What about dear wee Daisy and eagle eyed Simon? Is this an appropriate society at all at all to be on my favourite site, wanderlust? (grovel grovel Lyn!) ?  Will they eventually get their own special tab on the home page?

I'm all confused - am I banned from this outfit???  Oh, woe and woe more, is there a safe haven for FT on here anymore? And I wouldn't mind but I missed ye this couple of months.....

Ah, Fin, oh Fin... you have been sorely missed!  Whaddya mean, there are other important things in the world???  Have to say, this made me laugh out loud!  All this silliness and you can generate a paper worthy of the UN from it!
Your award, last time round, was a very very worthy one

Brilliant!  I guess us original members are probably the WFMG, great, couldn;t wish to be in better company.  I have to say that until you posted I had missed all the fuss as I looked at the original posting and said hobbit's response and totally agreeed.
Missed your pearls of wisdom, welcome back.  The good doctor has also been a bit quiet lately as well.

    Hi Mr Penguin Ccelus!
I will be the bearer of Emerald sweets no more.....news broke yesterday that our local sweet factory is to close with immediate effect. An 85 yr old family run institution it was taken over by a UK firm (Z Candy) in recent years of merger / takeover madness and was gradually run down. 37 jobs went last year, the final 17 now. At its peak it would have employed over 150 people. However, the press releases indicate that it may be some of ye across the pond that will bring the Emeralds next year:
"The decision to move manufacturing to the base in the UK is very disappointing and a sign of the times as businesses continue to come under pressure to reduce costs."

If only I knew in time; I could have set this new outfit, the WFMG, on Z Candy coz I'll miss the sweet smelling waft downwind of the Oatfields factory.....

    No cheers just tears....

Oh boo Fintown, that's pants. I remember that you were harbouring sweet-factory-loss fears at the meet-up. Could you stand to eat them if they are made here? Surely they won't be the same. Have you stockpiled any? They were ace sweets. Sniff.

That's a shame, FT, I'm truly sorry to hear such rotten news.

By the way, I saw your comment on Bilbo's image about red coats and fear you may have got the wrong end of the stick (it was not about you). I was referring back to an earlier comment made on one of Sophie's gorgeous images. BB replied here.

I hope your weekend improves, although sadly I can't see that those factory workers have much joy to look forward to :-(

So a group of active members (the so-called WFMG by mijb) are spoiling the Forum for everybody else?

//it is yet another typically unhelpful (and quite disgraceful!) barrage from one of the WFMG who seem to think they own this forum and consequently spoil it for everyone else//

How does he know the thoughts of 'everyone else'?  And who nominated him to speak on their behalf?  I didn’t notice any back-up for him on the Cuba query.  Did I miss the posts that said, ‘Good on yer, mijb’ and ‘That’ll show’em, mijb’?  I don’t think so.

If you don’t like the site, mijb, move on  – I don’t think you’ll be missed.  (That is, of course, my personal opinion – I’m not speaking for anyone else!)
