Venice - loved it when I was there and would love to return.

Has to be Cape Town. Arrive early Saturday morning, check out the penguins at Boulders, spend the afternoon walking around Kirstenbosch, dinner in Hout Bay. Sunday drive over to Franschhoek, lunch at Haute Cabriere and then a lazy drive back along the R44 and the False Bay coast. Flight back Sunday night. Bliss <sigh> ...and sunshine (forecast is -5 tonight here)

Angela and Bilbo have picked two favourites! But whilst I'd go to CT in a heardbeat, not with a Friday evening - Monday morning restriction. I think my minimum (assuming the flights, accomm and everything else were free) would be 3 nights there, anything less wouldn't be worth the travel time/ energy sap. Venice, yeah, I've only been in warmer months, so would love to see it in winter. Lyon would be on my list, for a foodie weekend, as I've been once, but not for long enough. Likewise, I'd go back to Bordeaux, we spent a fortnight there several years ago, really liked it. I need to check weather though, but it was sooo hot when we went one summer we left the next day and rescheduled our entire visit (attending a language school) for the year after! I want to go to El Cellar de Can Roca so a weekend in Girona would be good!

Rome, Rome, Rome!! I am not usually one for going where I have already been, as there are so many other places to discover, but assuming money is no object, I can go to lots of new places anytime!! But we spent a week in Rome, and did so so much, but there were still so many things we wanted to do and see, that we didn't!!

Kasbah du Toubkal near Imlil in the Moroccan Atlas mountains, a short private car transfer from Marrakech airport. Away from it all bliss without having to go as far as Cape Town.
