Got back from Destinations about an hour and a half ago. Great morning spent talking to everyone and finally getting to meet Jo, aka Fintown Treker. Yes, he does exist! Good to see Jill on the video link even though each time I tried to speak to her the thing froze! Same time next year?

Glad you had a good time Angela, just got in from work - completely knackered but judging from the weather reports, it sounds like the grand metropolis is not the place to be this weekend. so then, a plan for next year? pam

Ah, but I bet no one bagged as much free stuff as my students yesterday!

It was lovely to see everyone and I too can confirm that the Trekker does exist. Congratulations to everyone who won awards and thans to Lyn et al for the coffee and Emma for the lovely biccies :-) It's not that cold here yet Pam, (although a certain Dr was dressed for the Antarctic, as always it seems, complete with ice pick and penguin) but apparently the snow is on its way - hopefully it won't stick around too long or I might have to escape to warmer climes sooner rather than later.

Walkimg across to Pizza Express, my mind on a ziillion things, including one or two "problemlettes", when I was met by a surreal sight - two expeditioners, dressed for the Antarctic, even though no snow had yet hit Earls Court. Yes, it was Dr G and FT... suddenly all was then well with the world. Twas great to meet everyone (including Liz & Jamie via the wonders of modern techonolgy), and to find that FT really does exist (and is sometimes as challenging to follow in real life as he is on the forum ;-)). I agree that the biscuits were super-yummy. Worth the catchup alone. So, yes, same, place, same time, next year!

There was a Skype link up? I didn't know that, otherwise I'd've participated and not frozen my onions off walking around town.

It was great to virtually hook up! Hope you all had fun, it certainly looked like you were up for a party from where I was sitting. Maybe a London get-together this summer?

Hi everyone, it was lovely to see you all yesterday. Fintown, thank you very much for the sweets, they were ace. Angela, the goats calendar has already had a chance to shine - I got home to find an extra half of a wall had appeared upstairs whilst half a wall was in the process of disappearing downstairs. As the goats look much more appealing than exposed breeze blocks, that's where the calendar will go if anyone drops in for a cuppa! Thank you for the tea and conversation Wanderlusters! I can resist the lure of the snow no longer, Hatfield Forest here I come!

Obviously had a senior moment when I wrote this! I, of course, meant Liz on the video link. Apologies Liz, don't know where I got Jill from! We munched our "Emerald" caramels last night watching a very mediocre film, yummy. How the hell did you get that enormous jar into your hand luggage Joe? One thing, you have the gear for the weather today, hope your flight is OK, Gatwick sounds alright although Heathrow sounds a bit dire, wonder is Rhoda will land OK. Off to clear snow now.

Rhoda's back - delayed an hour leaving KL but no problems at T4. Sorry to have missed you all at Desties. Those Emerald caramels sound yummy.

I wondered who Jill was, AngelaR! (It's happened several times before, there must be something about 'Liz' and 'Jill' sounding similar.) It was a shame we weren't really able to talk to everyone, but considering the link up was from a boat in India and the mezzanine at Desties, both via dongle, we did pretty well! I hope someone (Sophie?) has some photographs from the get-together they'll share on myWanderlust. :-)
Don't know who took pictures I know someone did I saw it out of the corner of my eye, wasn't Sophie because she and I were discussing macro photography etc. FT had his camera but I am not sure it got used.
Two days of wearisome wanderings, goretex'd and ventiled to the teeth, and having had to eat their last wife at South Ken, which thankfully, provided the sustenance for the final push to the Court of Earl and the strength to repel an overzealous Guard of Security intent on removing these fine men of their accoutrements..... Sir T. Rekker of Fintown and the good Doctor collapsed at their Destinations. They were received at the Towers by the real Queen of Windsor, Lyn herself, and were administered the darkest of humic beverages and the mostest exoticest 'biccies' made by the hand of Princess Emma of Hatfield (to stop them tucking into someone else's wife).... quite simply divine! Restored of strength and garrulosity, thence forth followed much loquaciousness, exchanging of foreign treasures, and the honouring of many of the gathering. R Egyptian Goddess sat in state... even representatives from the Commonwealth were invited... a Torontorific Scott, some Moore from Sydney. The Flower with Power at the Tower turned out not to be some '67 year old wastrel' but a fair and virtuous beautiful Daisy. Even Simon scrubbed up well! But seriously.....Top Notch! Good to be face to face again with KK and EH (who have been quiet of late), Sophie (quiet for once!) and Angela as ever. Cheers Lyn et al.... til next time.....
