Offering advice to both beginners and experts on all areas of travel photography: water, deserts, jungles, boats, people, buildings, icons...

Take a look at his profile and articles here.

“It's a wonderful time to be taking photos. I don't just mean summer – with its longer days and foreign jaunts – but also a wonderful point in time, when technology is making photography easier and more creative than ever.

“The mobile phones in our pockets can now take photos as capably as the whopping SLRs of a few years ago, and the boom in photo apps means we can tweak and filter them in untold ways – see our feature on iPhoneography on p96 for ideas.

“Meanwhile, the new breed of compact system cameras (p107) is bridging the real gap in the market. You can now swap lenses – for examples a macro or a telephoto – on a piece of kit no bigger than a deck of cards: ideal for many travellers. And further up the quality scale, DSLRs are getting ever-better at handling extreme lighting conditions, allowing anyone to capture heart-stopping shots of, for example, the aurora borealis (p68).

“Of course, however smart your camera, you still need a good eye for a photo, and that's where this second issue of Take Better Travel Photos can help. Created by the team at Wanderlust travel magazine – and our esteemed consultant editor, Steve Davey – it's packed with trips from professionals and award-winning amateurs, covering everything from composition to kit.

“We hope you enjoy trying out their ideas for yourself – and do submit your best shots to our Photo of the Year competition. Four amateur photographers will win the ultimate travel photography assignment: to Papua New Guinea!”
