Wanderlust World Guide Awards 2012: shortlist announced

20th March 2012

From over 1,000 nominations, ten outstanding guides have made this year's shortlist. Now we need your help to crown the winners

Thank you! Over 1,000 of you nominated more than 300 outstanding individuals for this year's Wanderlust World Guide Awards. Whittling the entries down to just ten was incredibly tough.

Find out here who made the top ten shortlist.

Now we need YOUR help again. Have you travelled with one of the ten shortlisted guides? If so, do you consider them to be among the world's best? Please send us your comments (see below) to give our judges a hand with their deliberations.

The Wanderlust World Guide Awards were set up seven years ago in memory of the magazine's co-founder Paul Morrison. The top three guides will be awarded bursaries (kindly donated by Swarovski Optik) in Paul's name at a ceremony at the Royal Geographical Society on 4 October 2012.

Previous winners have gone on to use their prize money to fund projects that benefit the communities and the environment that they know and love so well.

Don't despair if your guide didn't make it through this time; please do nominate them again next year.

We want to give these remarkable people the recognition they deserve – so please check out the ten shortlisted guides and if you've travelled with them send us your thoughts.

Do you have first-hand experience of any of these remarkable guides?

If so, please drop us a line with your thoughts and tell us why you believe they deserve the profession's topmost accolade.

Send your comments to:

Wanderlust World Guide Awards (name of guide), 1 Leworth Place, Mellor Walk, Windsor, SL4 1EB.

Or, send us an email (with the name of the guide in the subject line) to topguide@wanderlust.co.uk.

The deadline for testimonials is 1 May 2012.
