Thai airport ‘demons’ to move

Twelve 6m (20ft) tall figures to be moved to a more prominent location in Thailand’s main international airport, Suvarnabhumi, in Bangkok
Twelve statues of demon spirits in Thailand’s main international airport, Suvarnabhumi in Bangkok, are to be moved – although no one seems quite sure why.
The 6m (20ft)-tall figures are modelled on statues in the city’s Royal Palace.
Airport officials claimed they’re being moved to more prominent places in the airport near the check-in desks. However, local media reports say the move is due to airport staff believing the statues have brought the airport bad luck.
To confuse matters further, some astrologers say moving them will bring even more bad luck and they should just be turned to face another direction.
Last year Suvarnabhumi was the site of a major sit-in by anti-government protestors, which closed the airport to international planes for over a week.
