Japanese world's best travellers
13th July 2009
Japanese travellers have been voted the best in the world in a new poll.
Online travel agent Expedia asked 4,500 hoteliers worldwide to rate different nationalities’ behaviour.
The Japanese came top of its Best Tourist Index for the third year running, with British travellers in second place and Canadians third.
However British travellers were voted the worst travellers in Europe by the continent’s hoteliers. But, further afield, Brits were praised for their behaviour, dress sense, politeness and quietness.
French, Spanish, Greek and Turkish travellers were voted the worst, with the French cited as rude and stingy when tipping.
American, British, German and Japanese travellers are the most generous when it came to rewarding good service.
