Destinations London - come and meet Wanderlust

Come and meet Wanderlust

30th January 2012

We'll be running all sorts of events and panels at the Destinations show in London - come and meet us and see what we're up to

Are you going to be at the Destinations show this week (2 – 5 February) at Earls Court? Wanderlust will be there and would love for you to drop by our stand (AP16). Whether you want to renew a subscription, take one out or just to say hello, it would be great to see you.

Thursday

As you can imagine, we have something every day to keep you interested. On Thursday at 11:30 on the main stage are our annual Travel Awards as voted for by YOU. So if you want to find out the top airline, the best tour operator, country and city and more – come along. We are also expecting travel legend and Radio 4’s Excess Baggage presenter John McCarthy to be there.

Then at 2pm in Theatre One, Wanderlust Editor Dan Linstead, will be interviewing senior BBC News Correspondent for Panorama, Jane Corbin.

Friday

On Friday in Theatre Two, Dan Linstead will be interviewing professional tracker and survivalist Ian Maxwell at 12pm. Then at 2pm in the same theatre our very own Lyn Hughes will be chairing a panel on breaking into Travel Writing with Bradt Travel Guides’ Adrian Philips, Rough Guides’ Matthew Teller and Exodus expedition leader and Wanderlust guest blogger Paul Goldstein.

The highlight of Friday though is the announcement of the Travel Photo of the Year competition winners. This happens in Theatre Two at 4pm and whilst priority is given to
the finalists and their families, there are some seats spare. If you can’t get in, we will have our Photo of the Year exhibition for all four days of the show at stand AP14.

Saturday

The myWanderlust get-together will be on the mezzanine level of Pizza Express at 10:30. We’ll also be handing out the myWanderlust awards there – so come along and let us buy you a coffee.

Lyn will be back in Theatre One with another Travel Writing panel at 1pm on Saturday. Along with Footprint Travel Guides’ Alan Murphy, Rough Guides’ Matthew Teller and Freelance Writer and winner of the Young Travel Writer of the Year award for Wanderlust Nick Boulos.

Straight after the writing panel, Lyn will be hot-footing it over to Theatre Two at 2pm to chair a panel on Gap Year and Career Breaks.

Having announced the winners to the Wanderlust Travel Photo of the Year, we now give you the tips to win it next year. Photo of the Year judges Paul Harris and Paul Goldstein discuss how to win next year’s competition and how to submit an image that catches the judge’s eye. In The Amateur Photographer Travel Photography Theatre at 4pm.

Sunday

If you’re planning your honeymoon, hopefully you’ve seen our brand new magazine Unique Honeymoons available direct or from WH Smiths. Editor Sarah Baxter will be chairing an expert panel on how to get the most from your honeymoon. Theatre Two at 12pm on Sunday 5 February.

Finally, Dan Linstead will be interviewing Dan Cruickshank in Theatre Two at 1pm.

We’d love to see you and don’t forget, the Travel Photo of the Year exhibition (Stand AP14) will be there for all four days – come along and say hello.
