Moscow is still the world’s most expensive city when it comes to getting a bed for the night. Travel agent group Hogg Robinson’s annual survey for 2007 found that the average night in a Moscow hotel cost a cool £248. Hotel room prices in the Russian capital have increased by a whopping 93% since 2004. New York is the second-most expensive city, with rooms averaging £192 a night. Paris, Dubai and Milan round out the top five. Interestingly, the average room rate in Mumbai, India, is now higher than in London. Prices in Mumbai have shot up by 37% since the 2006 survey, thanks mainly to the increase in IT and banking businesses in the city and a shortage of hotels. London was in tenth place, down two places from 2006.
