Sarah Barrell

Sarah Barrel is a travel writer and editor with 15 years experience both on the road and in the offices of national publications.

Editor/Dept Editor of the Independent on Sunday’s Travel pages 1996-2000, since then Sarah has lived between London and New York, writing for a number of national broadsheets. Among these are The Independent and Independent on Sunday, Telegraph, Sunday Times, Guardian, Scotsman, The Evening Standard and magazines including National Geographic Traveller (UK), Wanderlust, Marie Claire, Telegraph Ultra Travel, BBC Olive and ABTA. Broadcast includes travel advice for BBC Radio Scotland.

When she is not “out of office” you’ll find Sarah busy as Associate Editor for National Geographic Traveller (UK) magazine. She currently lives in North London with her husband and daughter.

Lecturing: Sarah is a regular guest lecturer at Oxford Brookes University, Publishing School. She will also be giving a classes at the London School of Journalism, and the London Journalism Centre, in spring 2013
