2010 World Guide Awards bursary plans

The 2010 winners of the World Guide Awards were an exceptional bunch – as they are every year! Find out how they spent their bursaries

Peter Selman won Gold last year, guiding in Latin America with Journey Latin America. He spent his entire bursary helping New Life Mexico in Puerto Vallarta, which included installing a drinking-water fountain.

Abraham Banda was awarded a very close Silver last year, guiding in Zambia with Norman Carr Safaris. He set aside some of his bursary to help two students pursue guiding as a career in Zambia. They are currently at a driving school, and will be based at Kapani Lodge to learn about guests’ needs and gain vital experience.

Noel Bruno Dawsan won Bronze last year and is shortlisted again in this year's awards. He is sponsoring a local girl from a tea plantation family, who has been offered a place at university to study music. He is also supporting five students from a local village for six months training in computer studies.
