Walking Festivals in Wales

If you’re new to walking, why not join the party at one of numerous walking festivals that take place in Wales each year?

Isle of Anglesey Festival of Walks

Two weeks of walking events taking in the wonders of nature, geology, architecture, food and drink that Anglesey has to offer. There are speed-dating walks and walks for people pushing babies in prams – completely unrelated events, of course...

More info: angleseywalkingfestival.com

Vale of Glamorgan Walking Festival

Nearly 20 different walks are organised over four days, taking in much of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast. We can recommend both the Vale Ale Trail and the Garlic Trail, but remember to pack some mints and headache tablets for the appropriate occasions.

Welsh International Walking Festival

An annual four-day walking event around Llanwrtyd Wells – one of several events organised locally, including the Drovers’ Walk, the New Year Walk, the Lord Crawshaw Memorial Walk and the two-day Real Ale Ramble, where free beer is handed out to participants.

Barmouth Festival of Walking

Based around the serenity of the Mawddach Estuary and the sheer drama of southern Snowdonia, the festival features an itinerary of 30 separate walking routes over nine days.

Cardigan Coast Walks Festival

An annual programme of walks in and around Aberystwyth, and the whole of the Ceredigion Coastal Path. The festival covers a range of walks for all tastes and abilities including – urban walking, countryside walks and of course tackling the coastal path.

You are missing two of the biggest walking festivals in central and South Wales: The Crickhowell Walking Festival which has a total of 80 walks and lasts 10 days ( http://www.crickhowellfestival.com/ ) and the Hay- on- Wye Walking Festival which has 64 walks ( http://www.haywalking.org/ ).

Both festivals showcase the Brecon Beacons National Park and cover some legendary walks.

Very sad to see these have not been included.
