A Swedish bus (Swebus)
If you’re travelling by long-distance coach in Sweden, you might want to remove your valuables from your luggage before you set off.
The reason for this warning? Apparently, a gang of dwarves has been hiding in suitcases in the luggage hold of coaches.
When the coach hits the road, they emerge from their hiding place and ransack other people’s bags.
When the coach reaches its destination, the suitcase cum hideout, now containing criminal and loot, is collected by an accomplice posing as a passenger.
The Swebus company has been particularly affected by this crime. A company spokesperson said that they’re thinking of installing video cameras in luggage holds.
And a Stockholm Police spokesman commented: "We are looking at our records to identify criminals of limited stature."
