William Gray
Wanderlust contributing editor William Gray was the big winner at last night’s annual British Guild of Travel Writers Members’ Awards.
William scooped no fewer than four awards, including three for his work for Wanderlust.
He won Best Overseas (non-European) Feature over 850 Words for his article on the Falkland Islands, featured in the March 2009 issue of Wanderlust.
And his accompanying photographs of the islands landed him the Photographer of the Year prize.
His article on Mull from the August/September 2009 issue of Wanderlust won the Best UK Feature Over 850 Words section.
And he was runner-up in the Travel Writer of the Year category.
William previously won the Best Overseas (non-European) Feature over 850 Words award in 2007 for his feature on the Ju/’hoansi Bushmen of Namibia, originally featured in the November 2006 issue of Wanderlust.
Elsewhere at last night’s awards, Hilary Bradt, founder of the pioneering Bradt guidebook series, was given a Lifetime Achievement gong.
The award ceremony is the traditional curtain raiser for the annual World Travel Market exhibition in London, which runs from today (9 November) until Thursday (12 November).
