After dead-wrong barbecue summer and mild winter predictions, do you put any faith in Met Office long-range forecasts?

The (in)famous donkey cigarette
dispenser
The fridge magnet, the donkey cigarette dispenser, the ‘unusual’ statue… most of us have brought back ‘kitsch’ souvenirs from our travels.
Now holidaylettings.co.uk has conducted a survey to find the tasteless souvenirs that have most frequently found their way into travellers’ luggage.
Topping its list is a gravy boat bearing a picture of Saint Thérèse de Lisieux – the ‘Little Flower of Jesus’, one of the most popular Catholic saints.
In second place is a Virgin Mary ashtray from Rome – bought, perhaps, in a bid to gain some divine help in giving up smoking?
Here is the rest of the top ten of tat:
- A donkey that dispenses cigarettes out of its bottom when you pull its tail
- A wooden toilet seat with the Spanish flag on the lid – a male appendage pops out when it’s opened
- A Betty Boo flamenco pottery doll
- A Chairman Mao cigarette lighter
- A gold waving cat from Hong Kong
- A leprechaun bottle opener/magnet complete with rainbow, pot of gold and ‘I love Ireland’ banner
- An apron with a picture of a naked Roman statue
- An ‘I love Hawaii’ fridge magnet in the shape of a surfboard
Perhaps some enterprising company could sell a smoker’s gift set containing the donkey cigarette dispenser, the Chairman Mao lighter and the Virgin Mary ashtray?
